Hi - I created a tank top using the excellent tutorial I found in the forums, saved it as a .tga file, previewed it as "female upper body" - and it looked great. So (after the usual tweaking) I finally coughed up my $10L and uploaded it. It's in my inventory now - but as a texture! I thought selecting "preview as..." would designate it a shirt. What step(s) or thing(s) am I missing?
Thanks in advance - I get the *best* advice here.

Oops, quickly, I meant to credit the author of the tutorial I used in the first place, Nephilaine Protagonist: /109/02/12684/1.htmlRonnie

you now want to create a shirt and use the texture you uploaded on it.

there is a radio box in the preview window that allows you to see your image mapped onto various body parts/shapes...that might be what you are thinking of...but it still uploads as a texture

Everything is normal so far. You just didn't finish all the steps to make your creation into a garment.
After you upload the texture for your shirt, which is what you did to this point, the next thing to do is open the Appearance control panel. There is a control for 'shirt'. Click that, and then click 'new shirt', and you'll appear to be wearing the upper half of a pair of white long johns. Click the texture pane for the shirt, and apply your texture that you just uploaded. You should now appear to be wearing your new shirt, and can check the seams, make slider adjustments, and fine-tune the shirt. Do a 'save as' and give the item a name, like "Ronnie's first shirt", and it will get saved to your clothing folder.
Note that with some slider settings, the seams and other factors might not look right. In particular, sliders that affect female chest size and shirt looseness can badly affect an alpha-mapped hemline on a cropped, bare-midriff shirt, and can distort what is on the chest.
Good luck with your clothing design efforts!

Once again I am humbled by the assistance I get in these forums. Thank you so much - I was able to successfully finish my shirt by creating a new shirt in-world and using my shirt as a texture. Thank you so much!
