Color Pallette question

I recently came across a color in an object on another sim. I wrote the numbers down for it so that I could recolor an existing build of mine. I am just not getting how to save that color to the pallette. I see the enigmatic phrase: (drag below to save). Fine, drag what below to where and how? All I seem to be able to drag is the pallette window, lol. It's a major pain to dial the numbers in every time. Any help with this would be appreciated.

you should just be able to put in the numbers and close it (check the 'apply instantly' or whatever it's named box) the dragging is for textures (from inventory to the texture box in edit, or you can open it from edit) just remember that colors overlay textures, and may not give the same effect (blending darkening/lightening the exsiting texture) so you may have to play around a little to get your exact match

What I'm trying to do is save the custom color to my pallette so that I do not have to enter the values each time I need to apply it. There are blank spots in the pallette. Surely there is a way to add your own shade. And the drag below to save is the one displayed in the color pallette window, not the texture one. I've tried several methods to get this to work. I've even stumped my own mentor.

Are you still using 1.19.1 or the latest 1.20? (Help / About Second Life if you don't know or aren't sure)

1.19.1 had a bug dragging colours onto the palette, it won't work with that viewer.

If you're using 1.20 you simply left-click the colour (big square at left-center) (and keep holding the button down) and drag it over onto one of the empty spots and let go of the left mouse.

First get your desired color in the bigger box on the left. Then click drag from that box to one of the smaller boxes below. You should see a little x in the box before you release the mouse.

Edit: this works in the RC viewer. It is NOT working in the main viewer that I have: 1.19.1.4

Aha! It is a viewer issue. Thanks so much all of you. Mods please lock or delete this thread. I will reluctantly d/l the new viewer even though I hear it's still buggy.

Every viewer is buggy. With each one, we get a new set of fixes, and a new set of bugs. Not to sound too cynical, but if living bug-free is your immediate goal, then the only answer is stay out of SL. Short of that, the best thing to do is to pay attention to all release notes, Linden blog entries, and JIRA, as best you can, so you know what's what with each viewer.

I have been using the release candidate viewers. From 10 on I think they have been as reliable or better than the 1.19 viewer.

I am using the 'published' 1.20.15 viewer and think it is better than the 1.19 and have less crashes. Crash wise it is on a par with the Nickolas viewer.

Plus the lossless upload works in 1.20.15. :D
