Make a plywood box and put it in your inventory. Copy it fifteen times.
You may want to resize your avatar's shape and make yourself super skinny, make your head, hands and feet small. That way there's less of you to hide.
Drag one plywood box to your head and resize the box so it covers your head. Drag the next box to your torso and resize it to cover your torso. Continue doing this to each of your limbs and your pelvis. You should end up looking like wooden block man.
Try doing some activities like sitting, dancing, jumping, and flying because you will see your avatar body pop out of the plywood box shape. You need to try resizing your boxes further to hide those.
I would make a backup folder of your plywood box suit. "Make Outfit" in the appearance tab will save a new folder for you.
Once you're completely covered you need to get the invisible prim script and drag it to each of those plywood boxes you're wearing. Delete the script once the box turns invisible. The boxes will stay invisible.
You should end up with an invisible prim suit.

Would you not still see the little bubble that shows your avatars name?

Note of course that you can use any shape of prim you want (not just boxes) and it will work the same. Also note that due to invisi-prim behaviors, the shape of the invisi-prim becomes noticeable against some backgrounds – possibly even mildly so against the sky. Thus, when I use them, I like to avoid having boxy corners sticking out of my avatar. On the other hand, I suppose boxes use less polygons. From: Tarina Sewell Would you not still see the little bubble that shows your avatars name? It's impossible to make this tag completely invisible (which can be a good thing). In fact, wherever your avatar's true location is, the tag will be right above.

So, at the risk of sounding dumb, what possible use for such a suit would you have, apart from griefing?

I have a friend who is... well... I'm not sure what he is, but he looks like a bunch of rusty pipes put together in a structure of some sort... with a gramophone for a head.
He was able to do this using invisiprims.

The Catch-An-Avatar-On-Fire lady, Mandy Medusa, had an invisi-suit for sale right next to her pyromaniac campfire. Mandy's Shop" at Astylus 79, 193, 128

maybe they want to be a ghost for halloween? From: Mickey McLuhanI have a friend who is... well... does this friend of yours happen to be an avid SF reader and Piers Anthony fan? because it sounds like a race from the "Cluster" series called Mintakaans the specific book is titled (wouldn't it figure?) "Chaining The Lady"... and no it's not what it sounds at first blush, but it has some juicy bits for a Piers novel
