I want to make an outdoor flooring that will entirely cover the ground surface, but follow the natural contours of the ground closely.
I fiured on first laying out a series of 10 m cubes, rotate 90 degrees, then use the top shear controls to adjust the heights of teh corners. Unfortunately, it seems this only works along one dimension. Is there a techniquee for accounting for both x and y-axis slopes in this idea, or am I doomed?

Unfortunately, it seems this only works along one dimension. Is there a techniquee for accounting for both x and y-axis slopes in this idea, or am I doomed? Why not just rotate the cubes to the slope that you want and texture teh top surface? I think if you try to texture a sheared surface, you'lll find that the texture gets smeared and will not look very good. Stick with the 10 x 10 cubes, rotate to match the ground slope and texture the top surface. having said that: In my opinion, I would not try rotating the cubes to match the surface. I would keep them flat and have the cubes staggered as they covered the ground. It will create a stepped look and should look nice. The problem with rotating surfaces and then lining them up to each other is that you'll end up with gaps and seams that will look ugly. my .02

Rotating won't work, because then the footprint they cover won't be 10x10. I guess in conjunction with resizing and lots of other stuff, it's possible to get a perfect fit, but I think that's more maths than I want to do. And i definitely do not want a stepped effect either. It may be nice, but it isn't the goal here.

I've found it to be sort of frustrating that you can't do line or point editing, only entire face editing. That makes it really difficult to achieve some otherwise really cool tricks.
