Odd thing I'm hoping has an easy and obvious fix. I created several prims, added textures, and left. When I came back and clicked on the items I didn't get the option to Edit them. It flashed for just a second, and then disappeared, leaving me with the rest of the menu. My own objects have rejected me! Oh, the pain...
Any suggestions?

Click the Build button, then select the Edit tool, then click on the object. Sounds like you're getting the pie menu flash.

They changed (couple of weeks ago) the way right click works (though it seems sometimes intermittant to me.. sometimes just a click will work, but not most of the time), now when you right click, don't just click, hold the button down, and the first menu that has edit on it will stay.
