This is strange, because I've used the Sculptie Exporter before without any trouble. Anyway, I made an object out of a 16x16 NURBS sphere, froze/reset transforms and deleted history. I selected the object and clicked the magic shelf button I made from Qarl Linden's script here: http://www.qarl.com/qLab/pile/ant/sculpt.melAnyway, here's the object in Maya and SL. I tried it again just to be sure, with similar results. In general, the script is acting oddly besides the errors. The popup window doesn't close automatically after exporting, and I can't get it to bake textures, either. I thought that I might have copied the script incorrectly, so I checked it again with similar results. I'm using Maya 2009 on a Vista 64 bit system. When I was using the exporter before, I was on XP, but I installed Vista a couple of months ago and use Maya fair much every day on the system with no problem (I just don't use it for SL much).

Looking at the pics, my first thought was perhaps we're looking at a simple stitching error, like maybe you didn't have have Correct Orientation enabled in the exporter. But from your description of the other problems, I'm guessing something got borked in your Maya install. It sounds like maybe the software renderer is acting up. Try resetting your preferences. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall Maya. If it's still misbehaving after that, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Thanks for the reply. I reset my preferences via deleting "User Prefs" in preferences, then remade the button (again), and it made the exact same sculptmap with errors-- whatever is happening, it's not random, because both of the maps with the error are exactly the same (I layered them in PS to compare).
But when I turned off "maximize scale" (I typically use that), the sculptmap was just fine! So, I can import at least.
The window still wouldn't close on its own. Go figure :?

Ah, the Maximize Scale thing actually makes sense. I should have thought of that from looking at your screenshot. Your object is HUGE, way bigger than the 10-unit maximum. Maximize Scale accounts for size, so anything bigger than 10 units (which translates to 10 meters in SL) can cause it to go a little nutty.
As for the window not closing, just so I can say we've been as thorough as possible, you are clicking "Export and Close", not just "Export", right?

Oh--- that makes sense, then. I guess I've been used to large objects (been bouncing back and forth between Max and Maya lately). And yes, export and close
