I have built a building on one piece of land and now I need to teleport that building to another piece of land - how can I do that?

Hopefully you have linked the building prims together. Make sure you have named the building and then take it back into your inventory. Then rez it on your new location. That's the best way I think; its what I know to do anyway. Or if you want to keep a copy on the original location, rt click and in the pie menu, choose more and then in the second pie menu choose take a copy. You can then rez the copy in the new location.

Even when they're not linked, you can select all of the prims and take or take a copy. That will pack all the prims together as 1 item in your inventory. When rezzing at the new location, make sure the edit box is open _before_ you rez. That way, the unlinked prims will all be selected after rezzing and you can easily place them.

Thanks Dnali and Lynn - My building is pretty big and I do have several groups of linked prims - So in this scenario, can I copy all the prims at once and move it to the new site without rebuilding the structure again? Or will the linked prims act as one object - so when I copy them to the new site, I will have to re-assemble them to make my building (just like lego pieces)

Await your replies,
Thanks

There are a number of tools such as Builder's Buddy (free) and Rez-Foo (highly rated) created specifically for this task.

As long as you have the edit box open at the time when you rez the structure, and as long as you move the multi-selected build SLOWLY, you will be able to move and rotate it as if it was a single object. If you move it too fast, it can get out of alignment. Be warned also that sometimes rotating a linkset can cause it to un-link...

One glitch I just noticed, that cropped up in the last release. It used to be that if you selected multiple linksets and took them all into inventory at once, the coallesced item in inventory showed the name of the last linkset or prim you clicked on. So my practice has always been to click last on a single loose prim, named with the project name and backup date.

This no longer works. The name of the coallesced set of prims seems selected at random from one of the many prims and/or linksets you selected. There seems to be no user control over this now.

Workaround. Sort recent inventory by date, and make a folder to put the coallesced build into. You can name the folder with the project name and backup date.

Ok - that was helpful - but I am still confused! What do you mean by "rez" the object? how do I do tht and what does that do?
I really need to know how to do this step by step as ths is my first time :

First I need to select the prims - in the edit mode - make copy - then what am I supposed to do? How do I get them onto to the other site - just drag and drop from my inventory? And if I do that, then will my entire building be brought in as one or will I have to re-assemble it?

Appreciate all the help with this!
