I thought I understood the new SL rules for linking, but when I made a 50 X 50 meter platform (very thin in height), I keep getting an "objects too far apart to link" message. Isn't the limit 54 meters now? (The objects I'm trying to link are of course 10X10 meter panels adjacent to one another.)
Thanks for any help.

I haven't been pushing the linking rules, but if your platform is square, you might be running afoul of the limit that the object must fit within a sphere which is 54m in diameter. Full linkability rules: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linkability_Rules.

That won't work because the centers of the parts at the diagonally opposite corners are still too far apart. If you have a 5 x 5 array of 50 M prims, the centers of the diagonally opposite ones are more than 58 M apart.
Even in a straight line, you can only link 4 prims that are 10 M on a side. Try 5, and it will fail.
And yes, there is a calculation having to do with the bounding boxes fitting within a sphere fo a certain size... It makes the new link limits a little larger, but not a lot.
