Theme : The Final Frontier

How about a sim with no land, no water - just space and the gravity set to 0. One completely flat object with a teleporter that links to the rest of the world. Somewhere in the world a teleporter to link you to that sim.

The platform would be the beginning of a space station that could be built in all directions.

I would be interested in this. And I don't think it would need a new 'server' just a sim with some special physics rules (no gravity) and no land.

It would be sweet if you could 'buy' chunks of space like you do land, but I would deffinatly not expect that.

But yes, I would support this.

Might also be a neat idea to incorporate a space station idea into a mass directory of some sort. Blast off to your favorite locations, find a store and port to it, cruise missle to a party place.

this is a very interesting idea that i would love to take part in, though I beleive it would be hard to implement properly.

If it has a futureistic theme to it, and ur apart of the project team Xav, then I am in! Plus I really need to get into a project casue my idea(s) are not really lifting of the ground by myself.

Just some ideas here, more for the Linden tech folk. Is it possible to make a sim just by itself, with new textures set for the sky and water (if there really needs to be any). Casue that would be great for the sim for this idea. Just set the world sky for this sim to space, with maybe the SL world scrolling across the screen, just like the moon in SL currently. We could just set the normal 0-255, x,y,z borders for the limits on the sim, and like Xav said the only way out of the sim is by transportation.

I think this would be an excellent sim for a centeral SL spot. This space station could have all info needed for every aspect of SL, for n00bies and for vets. More of the centeral starting positions, or maybe not.....

That sounds great, but lets use it more as a new cool thing, not the next Earth and Beyond. This shouldn't be space stations and rocket ships, more just floating freely in the endless vacuum of... err.... nothingness.

If you want a space MMORPG, there's Earth and Beyond. I don't really want to be reminded of that though....

Don't get me wrong though, I love the idea. And we all must admit that flying is ultra cool. I would love to fly above the clouds in some alienlike environment, or in space. We could have some whole Star Trek thing, with the Vulcan high command and all. Us geeks; so much fun to be around.

yo maybe we would have to wear specialey designed "Lindentronic" space suits, or we'd have a pretty graphic of ouselves going ~SPLAT~ and doin the space death thing, then bein teleported back to the central Lindentronic space station hehe

Of course, this would definatly limit attachments and personal clothing freedoms, but maybe one could get just as creative with an ultra-kewl space suit? :x
