Is there an easier way to move large buildings from a sim to another but using rezz foo or similar tools to move linked blocks one by one?

have you tried highlighting the multiple parts of the large building then right clicking on it and clicking on take?
that should keep all the pieces together so that when you take it out of your inv it stays together.
you just have to remember to select all the pieces again before moving or rotating the building as a whole.
not sure if this idea works. i thought i saw someone recommending it in another post.

Yes selecting it all and doing Take Copy works. I'd recommend against Take for the reasons below.
You might want to turn on just selecting your own stuff and be very carefull it all gets selected. In particular wait a little while between doing the selection and the Take Copy. It seems to take 10's of seconds or more for large buildings for all the parts to get selected. You can watch them highlight as they are selected. Then do a Take Copy so if not all are selected you get another bite of the apple.
Try re-rezzing it first to make sure it's all there before deleting the original.

Make sure "Select only my objects" is checked in the Tools menu.
Select each piece of the build, so all the pieces are highlighted at once. Make sure that the last piece you clicked on has a name that lets you know what the build is. It may even be worth while to rez a single cube in the build area, name that with a name for the collection, and then click that last.
Take a copy into inventory, or if the build has no-copy parts, take the original into inventory. It will show in inventory as a single item, with the name of the last item that you clicked on.
Go to the new location, and turn on the edit tools BEFORE you rez the build. That will ensure that all the pieces stay highlighted when you res it from inventory.
Rez the copy (or original) of the build from that one item in inventory. Move it slowly to position it.
