How to share editing of each others' prims?

Jenny and I are trying to collaborate on a building. Typical of what we want; I create a door, she changes its shape, I change its texture, etc. We have tried and tried to do this, and I have read all the help and knowledge base stuff I can find, without a satisfactory answer. Can anyone please tell us how to do this?

What we've tried:

1. She creates a group, and I join it. I set a prim to the group, check share with group, and check "next owner can mod/copy." Still, she can't edit it. If I deed it to the group, she can edit it, but then I can't link it to other prims because I no longer own it.

2. I drop out of the group and grant her mod. Now she can edit objects I create on my land. But the building is on the group's land, and she still can't edit its prims.

3. She follows me around saying "Try a blue rug here. No, make the pattern repetition larger. That floor should be thicker." Etc. I edit everything, and go slowly crazy.

Help us please! Thanks. - Pablo

In your friends list, there's an option to allow a friend to edit your objects. Make sure the two of you are on eachother's list, and then both of you can set permission for the other to edit your objects.

Be aware though that this will allow both of you to edit ALL of eachother's objects, not just that specific door you were talking about, and linking will always be a problem if the two objects to be linked do not have the same owner. I'd suggest having one person own everything, and that person be in charge of all links. The non-owner won't be able to link or delete things, but he/she will be able to do everything else.

Divide your land into his and hers. Problem solved!

Thanks! We tried Friends List mod grants already, though; and my grants only seem to have effect on my objects that are located on my land. The advice about me owning all the prims and being in charge of linking makes sense.

I'm not sure what you mean about "his and hers land." We want to work together on the same land, editing the same prims. I've thought of arranging to temporarily own the land that the building is on so my mod grants would always work. Worth a try? - Pablo

It sounds like something didn't get set right. You want a combination of #1 and #2. Give each other mod rights in your friend lists. Set the prims to group (Deeding them to group is not necessary.) and check share with group. I'm currently working on a joint build with someone using this method and we've had no issues.
