Linking Building Prims After The Fact

I'm in the middle of building a structure and am 95% done with it. The intent was to sell it off with the land as a custom exclusive one off kind of thing. Someone suggested that I should also consider selling the structure separately, but the problem is that I never bothered to link all the pieces together. Originally I didn't have selling this building alone in mind, otherwise I would have done it as I went along.

Is there an easy way to link all prims on the property other than me going around and shift clicking everything? I have around 200 prims being used for this building, so going around and clicking on stuff will not be fun if that's the only way to do it.

Is there a script or object or whatever that can do this for me automatically? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Well, you could zoom out and drag a box around the bits. Quite easy to miss one, you have to check.

In the Tools Menu, select the option "Select only my objects". Then fly up into the air so you have a good view of the property and your build, go into Edit mode, and click & drag a selection box around the build, then link. I find it helpful to move the camera for an overhead view. Don't forget to remove furniture or other items not belonging to the build before doing that, though ;)

Often a selection box will miss a couple of prims, so I would suggest moving the linked part of the build to check for prims that remain unmoved, then CTRL-Z to move the build back to the original position, and link the remaining prims manually.

Woot, such an obvious way to handle it. If there's furniture inside under the roof and what not, will those items still be recognized by flying up and dragging the box around the property to capture all the prims? Thanks everyone! :)

Well if you have furniture or other random stuff not technically part of the build, still in the build - and it has you as the owner - it will be selected with the build when you drag a selection box around it. And if you link it all, the furniture will end as part of the linkset - or you might get a "can't link" error message if the furniture is no-mod, or it could bork the permissions of the build if the furniture is no-copy or no-trans.

Ok, cool. Thanks for your help! The furniture is coming along with the building, so that works great.

Another way to make sure you have everything, instead of moving it and hoping that Undo works, is to use a feature of the Debug menu to hide the currently selected objects. ( Debug->Rendering->Hide Selected ) Make your drag-select from above (up your render distance preference for a bit if you need the extra drag distance), then toggle on the hide-selected flag. Everything you have selected should vanish (it's still there!) leaving only the bits you missed. You can then shift-click those (making them seem to vanish too) until you have it all. Then turn off the hide-selected feature and do your linking.

This is also good when you have a bunch of prims you want to link that are in the middle of a group of other prims you also own. Instead of starting with a drag, turn on hide-selected and just shift-click all the prims you want to link until all of them are invisible.

Excellent suggestion, thanks! The Debug menu is full of hidden goodies which I keep forgetting about.
