Is it possible to build a wall panel that will allow an avatar to pass through the panel say from left to right, but not pass through from right to left. The reason I ask is that every now and again I build a wall section that acts that way. So I guess there are really two questions. What am I doing wrong to get a panel to act that way? And, suppose I want a panel to act that way, how do I do it? Thanks in advance.

From my experience build it at a sim border! Coming on from the sim it's not built no will let you whizz through, from the other side it won't.
Of course, some people may say this is a bug rather than a design feature..... and one day it may be fixed ![]() |

I don't know of any way to do that with the build tools.
But here's how I might do it if I wanted a simple one-way panel. I would put a scripted prim on the access side that uses volume detect to sense an avatar. When an avatar is detected, the script would set the panel to phantom. A simple version would use a timer to set the wall back to non-phantom. A more sophisticated version would use volume detect on the other side to sense that the avatar had passed through. An even slicker version would use a repeating sensor or a chain of volume detects to interpolate the avatar's motion, so it only phantomed the door when the user was walking toward it from the correct side, like in Star Trek. Also, personally I'd want to change the transparency or something so you could tell visually if it had phantomed. Obviously you'd need to know how to script to do it this way. _____________________

Good idea, but not the case here. I'm in the middle of a sandbox.

Thanks Cadroe. I can script some, but these are not scripted panels. As far as I can tell, they are identical to every other plain old wall panel that I've ever built. Sometimes, however, i can pass through them in one direction, not the other. Must be something odd is SL.

This sounds very peculiar, and like something I would like to see.
![]() Could you send me one of the prims or tell me where I can see one? If you would be interested in setting one up on my land in Shona for people to see, I would be happy to host it, or you can send it to me and I will set it up and post the landmark for it here on the forum. _____________________

ArchTx: I've chalked it up to a glitch in sl. I think I still have one rezzed and will send you tp information later today when i get back to sl. I can't seem to recreate the effect, and perhaps whatever glitch caused it has been corrected.
