Is anyone else having this problem?

I have noticed in the past that sometimes i'm having issues yet others aren't so i decided to ask here before I submit a bug report.

When attempting to build...when you go to create a prim, the only prim I can rez is a box. Whenever I try to rez anything thing else I just go into edit mode and the prim never appears. I can though, take the box and change it into any of the other shapes.

Thanks for reading this. Hopefully if this is an SL issue we can resolve it to get back to "happy building".

this is yet another retarded feature they did where everytime you rez a prim you need to keep selecting it even though you want to use the same one. so if you rez a sphere it changes back to the box you need to select sphere again which is ohhh so annoying.
only other thing i hate that i have reported bugs on are the never ending prims that rez when i'm in edit mode.

*sigh* I don't even get the option to rez a sphere...i click to rez as i normally would, and it just goes to edit the prim on the ground etc. (the row of shapes across the top seem to be disabled) so clicking on one of the shapes is not an option for me unless i click on the box. Then i will get a box and have to go to the shape drop down and pick it from there. *grumbles*

I haven't noticed either of the problems you guys are talking about. When I click to rez a sphere, I get a sphere. Sometimes it takes a little while to appear if SL's feeling particularly laggy that day, but it's never more than a few seconds on the worst day. I'd guess maybe you're having some packet loss issues, Daphne. For whatever reason, the command to rez certain things is not being sent to the server from your client, or it's being sent but not received. Have you tried building in several different areas to see if maybe it's the particular sim that's the problem? Have you tried reinstalling SL? Have you made sure your firewall is properly configured? Are you on a wireless connection? Any or all of things being out of whack could cause all kinds of strange behavior.

As for setting the rez tool to make a sphere, and then having it revert back to the cube setting afterwads, I've never seen that happen ever. I've been rezzing sphere after sphere while typing this, and that orange highlight around the sphere button is staying right in place. I'm curious, Kinga; does the reversion happen every time for you? Does turning on "Keep Tool Selected" make any difference?

Thanks for the response Chosen, I am going to jump back in game and try building in other places etc. As far as connection and firewall etc, those are all configured correctly, and the SIM I am building on is my own and pretty much empty and lag free at the moment. Hence why I asked in here first, I have had issues that were client side and not server related and hate reporting bug issues if it is not something that is "world" wide.

Thanks again!!

I have always liked shift dragging existing prims better. often saves time on textuiing and positioning. So i don't usually need more than one created.

I'm having this problem also. Used to be that I right clicked and hit create and I could choose whatever shape I wanted...I'd get the lil wand and *done*

Now what I do is I right click edit and hit create....then I have to select the "create" button up at the top of the edit box. This allows you to select a different shaped prim.

An extra step and I'm not sure why they did this "feature"

I just checked and having the same problem. I tried a few times and eventually was able to get it to let me create the desired shape without having to rez a box first. Typical SL flakiness, more new "features".

Try it at 1AM in the morning when only 11-13K people are on..most the time not a worry.

FORGET IT if more than 20K are on..

Cheers

Try clicking that blue Build button at the bottom of the screen instead of right clicking. You won't have to bother with the pie menu at all, and it will take you straight to the wand tool.

Thanks Chosen :) I've been having this "problem" too........but it really wasn't much of concern once I found a way around it (the rezzing the box and then choosing the shape). But your way is easier and faster.

I was wondering though.......would it not be helpful if LL would have a little "tip thingie" pop up the first time you choose something that has a new way of doing it? You know like when you click something in many programs with the little box to check or leave unchecked to show the next you choose the feature? I had no idea LL had put this new "feature" in.......I thought it was just something weird going on again. :)

I know...I just haven't retrained myself to use that button. I guess I find it too much work to move my mouse down to the botton of the screen. (right clicking and choosing edit is only two quick finger moves)

I get this problem using the tools menu-build. Have to click back to the create tab after it jumps to edit.

Maybe I should empty my cache and dance round my chair three times widdershins :p

Annoying but not preventing me from building.
