scupties in Shade?

I saw on wiki Shade-10 listed as a usable tool; I have a copy of Shade-7 got bundled with poser few years ago that never got around to installing. Is there any reason I couldnt use that version?

Also.... is there a 3D version of a default SL avatar I could load up to use as a base of reference when designing objects?
