Whats the best way to sell stuff?

So I have set up a box and put (no transfer) stuff in its contents and set it to sell contents. This suits my needs perfectly.

But when it comes to the user interacting with the box - whats best? I can set the 'When Left-clicked' option on the box to:

Touch/Grab (default)
Buy Object
Pay Object

When it is set to default I have to right-click, select more.. then click buy - too many clicks.
When it is set to 'Buy object' i am not so happy with the cursor turning into a dollar sign on mouse over.
'Pay Object' requires a script which I dont have.

The way i would like it to work is to right click the object and select buy from the first menu that appears - and no dollar sign cursor. This is how it seems to work in most shops i have been to.

Hows that done then?

I use the "buy object" option for selling my items. I've never felt the $ was a big deal and it's simpler.

When purchasing an item I would rather have the $ and purchase with one click, but that is just me AND it shows me all of the items in the box instead of having to open the Edit menu and checking contents.

Others may prefer the other method of right clicking and lose the $...and I just don't see one additional click as being an issue.

If someone wants to purchase your item, I seriously doubt they will mind the $ or the need to right click, so it may just boil down to what is best for you.

I don't believe I've noticed the left click/buy option without the $...but I was probably concentrating on obtaining my new goodie rather than the steps I took to get it.

Best,

I prefer to have the old default, because I'm used to how it was before the new default actions were brought in. I don't know why "buy" is on your (more) menu, I'm sure it's on the main pie menu for me. The sticky $ cursor annoys me too- hanging around for ages after moving the mouse over a buyable item, and clicking into world to get movement back from having the mouse in chat window can lead to fun games. The default right-click-buy also shows contents.

All this said, if people these days prefer one click to buy then you do what the market suggests :D

Thanks Ace an Arikinui -

I know why 'Buy' was in the more menu - I was trying to buy my own stuff in which case 'Take' was in 'Buy''s place. For those who dont own the object - 'Buy' is in its proper place.

One more question - with this method - do you get IM's when someone buys your stuff and you are offline? If so how detailed is the IM? Be good to keep some records.

When someone purchases an item from you, there will be a blue pop-up window and the *cha-ching* sound (akin to the one you see/hear when you purchase something). It will say that NoName AV paid $LXXX for Item Blah Blah Blah.

You can tweak this in the Edit---> Preference---> Audio/Visual---> L$ Threshold menu to be notified at what price the *cha-ching* sound will be heard.

If you are offline, you will not be notified. You can check your transaction history to see what has sold. Under Community---> My Account----> Transaction History (a link on the right hand side of the screen). You can also download your transactions into Excell for up to 30 days so you can track how much you are making, and which items sell vs. which do not.

I believe there are scripts which will IM you when an object is touched, similar to the ones that notify you when someone takes a notecard...but I'm not a scripter by any stretch of the imagination...so I'm no help there.

Best,
