I've been using wings 3d for a couple of month now and I'm fairly comfortable with it.

My only problem is that i cannot import an SL sculptie BMP file and then export it. I've tried this with my own sculpties exported from Wings 3D. When I important back into Wings, the resulting object gives me an unsupported format error even if i immediately try to export back to SL format. This seems to happen when I export using the 128x128 size. if I export 64x64 size i can import it and re-export it.

Is this a problem for everyone?
What is the practical difference saving a 64x63 sphere using 64x64 format vs 128x128. ?

I am using your latest plugins and the latest version of wings 3d 0.99.2.

Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated

Cheers

Ah yes. I had kind of forgotten about that gotcha. The plugin can import a 128x128 bitmap, but a 128x128 model is not a size supported by the exporter. This inconsistency exists because of a combination of two things. First, I made the importer more general than it needed to be for my own experimentation. I should have added a warning when it imported an unsupported mesh size. Secondly, exporting a 128x128 bitmap was a kludge to work around compression artifacts when the bitmap was uploaded into SL. Although there has been a lossless compression option in the standard client for a long time now, there were a lot of problems associated with it. So I'm not sure whether or not the 128x128 export option still serves a purpose.

Although the issue of the importer being more general than the exporter was already covered in https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims_with_Wings_3D#Troubleshooting_Tips I've updated it to specifically note the 128x128 scenario. So I'll take this opportunity to remind newer Wings 3D sculpty builders that this resource exists.
