Hi everyone,

I've created some pretty popular nipple rings that I have sold a ton of. Problem is the first version (which I am selling now) have a problem. The rings come seperate from each other when bought and when a user attaches them to the left and right pec respectively it looks cool standing still, but watch out if you use special animations especially dancing. I have had suggestions to link the two rings to a center object that would be invisible and inside the body. I have no problem doing this however I don't see how that would work with different body sizes and *ahem* breast sizes. I can understand leaving it modifyable so people can change it's location, but stretching it would only make the rings look bigger and wouldn't move them independently.

There's a way I know because other designers out there have nipples that allow for this kind of thing but I of course cannot ask them because I don't think they would appreciate a competitive designer asking for their secrets.

So I ask here out in the open. How exactly would I implement this so I can upgrade everyone who has bought my nipple rings to this new design. The upgrade would be free of course so I'm not looking to expand my wallet I just want to make a good product. So far the response to my product has been overwealming, the only negative is that they don't stay still while dancing.

Anyone have any ideas?

make it where they both link to a central object that can hide in the body, make them modifyable, then the user can unlink, relink once they are in position

problem is, my nipple rings themselves are already 2 prims linked. They have to be linked a certain way in order for them to work correctly (they change color via a touch menu and also make sounds when touched by anyone) so this might cause more problems for me in the futre by people sending me IM's that their rings don't work anymore because they didn't link them back correctly.

wait, could I make the rings themselves no permissions whatsoever and make the center object modifyable? Problem with that is being able to position the rings correctly without mod persmissions tho....

sigh, I hate thinking at work lmao

the rings I use attach as a pair to the chest. The purchaser then edits them (using resize and move primarally) to get them to fit properly. The slight rescaling caused by stretching them doesn't seem to effect their appearance at all. All the time the pair are linked.

I've since found out they attach to the spine. Collar's seem to use the chest.

Possible Solution:
If you edit a linked object, and then select Edit Linked Parts in the edit menu, you can actually move and rotate the separate prims indepentantly of the rest of the set. You can't enter values directly into the size and rotation input fields of the edit menu (there's a bug with that) but you can drag them with the mouse just fine.

If it can't be done with an attachment, may be they could place the 3 prim linked set (2 rings and the middle, invisible prim) on the ground while they stand on a posing stand, then manipulate the object and move the pieces independantly (as above), into positions where it would be when attached to get the "shape" of the 2 rings in relation to the middle prim. The they simply pick up the object, and attach, then move it around as a whole object till it is back in the place they had it when they were editing it as an unattached object.

I know.. it's not a perfect solution and would be tricky for people without decent editing skills but it will work.

Use particles for the chain?

Its pretty easy to make a dipping chain in particles... though making it look like a static chain is a bit hard
