ok so when i am building i find that my prims sometimes don't line up well. is there something i could use that will prevent the prim from going over a certain point? i've tried a box prim 90 degrees vertical but that still allows prims to go through it even if i set to physical and locked. any ideas? maybe there is a product that i don't know about. thank you.

In the build interface:
You can build by the numbers
Snap to Grid
Copy selected

There are some commercial products but I've never used them; look on XSt.

reference mode ruler is also very useful for alignment of parts... dunno how I livved with just plain grid mode before I found it.

select a single prim, press shft+g, now you rulers will be set to a scale of the selected prim and the same rotation too....

Have you tried calculating the positions? Some settings you can copy from the prim you're aligning to.

prim master, prim master junior, and prim docker.
all on xstreet, prim master junior is a freebie.

whoops, you're right, fixed ;)

and FWIW learning to use reference mode is infinitely better than all the scripting of products like prim docker IMO.
