Hi all - I've got a problem relating to UV maps in Blender.

I have a file that has three seperate objects, one of which I've already derived a UV Map from. I am currently trying to get one from a second object and have already set up the materials, etc.. but hitting 'bake' keeps on telling me i dn't have an image to bake to (even though I do). I *do* also have the correct object selected while in UV Face Select Mode.

I had that problem. I searched on the error message and finally came up with the advice that blender users of a certain blender vintage had to bake ambient occlusions first and then bake the texture, or this would happen. You may want to search on the error message and the phrase ambient occlusions. I do not know of a way to retrieve the object that you have already created. That bit of advice from wherever it was (and it *could* have been here) has saved me a lot of subsequent frustration even though I had to sculpt that one piece again (for the nth time).

Another thing to check is that all faces are assigned to the image in UV Face Edit mode. Each object will need to be done.

I tend to get that message quite frequently, and solve it by making a new imagefile. Works wonders, at least for me.

ok this is a small bug with blender it gets stuck sometimes..

go into object mode, deselect / select object then --> new image

go back into uv face select mode, deselect, select object -- new image

that has never failed to get rid of that pesky error for me..;)

Hi all. Sorry for the late reply.

I have tried everything you have suggested - made sure all faces were selected and applied to the map, created new images in various modes... still nothing!

I am beginning to wonder if it had to do with placing objects on different layers. Would this have affected the export at all?

Problem fixed!

It was indeed a layer problem - while Layers are useful for isolating objects, everything needs to be on layer 1 in order to export properly, for some reason.

Anyhow - thanks anyway to all!
