Linking question

ok I have a design that is no more then 30x30 meters Infact both ends are cented 20 meters apart with two ten meter blocks between them (the ouside piece are cut in half). Now the sides are rounded so picture a 4x4 prim shape kinda. Now I can link say North and south together BUT when I try to add east and west they will link...but not to the same group. Am I doing something wrong? If one direction can link and the other direction can link shouldn't they both link together?

What's the distance from corner prim to opposite corner prim? If it's more than 32M on center, you're out of luck.

You can link four 10M blocks end-to-end, but not diagonally. In the end-to-end configuration, the centers of the end pieces will be just 30M apart, so it works. Diagonally, they'd be about 42.4M apart, so the link would fail.

In other words, you can't do a 4x4 square. Just because you can do 4 horizontally, and 4 vertically doesn't mean you can do 4x4. Remember Pythagoras. The diagonal distance between opposite corners of a square is way bigger than the distance between adjacent corners. Hypotenuse^2 = sideA^2 + sideB^2.

Also, keep in mind, the smaller the prims you're dealing with, the smaller their linkable distance. See this post for a detailed explanation of the ratio between prim size and max link distance.

ok I think you caught my catch 22. I was aware of the link distance and have linked similar sizing area before...but never this diverse. I was unaware the diagonal distance (assume by corner to coner you mean diagonal) is much more then 32. Cause in essence what I have is a 20 x 20 area with windows that I am linking.
