I recently made and put out for sale a Drider AV. The ptroblem at hand is its permissions though I set it all to allow Modify/Copy/ but no transfer and the invisa prim script is All perms since its opensource. Today an associate went to change the Texture on it and it wouldnt allow her to, it stated the item was No Mod so now all the AVs have to be sold seperately. but this STILL doenst make sense why the perms would change like that am I doing something wrong in the Perms? I want ppl to be able to change the texture if they want , i even included the original texture on it for a back up.

Was she trying to mod one owned by her or was it still owned by you. If it was owned by you, she would likely be unable to - unless you've previously given her rights to mod your stuff.

Hey Hunter, where did you go to set these MOD/COPY/NOTRANS perms? When the Drider AV was in your inventory? Or did you rez the prims of the Drider... and did you check each linkset and then each set of contents, including textures inside? SL is a bit loopy this way... I've seen similar things before, not sure what's happening here but sometimes you gotta get to the nittygritty and check permissions for each and every little thing, because as Francis Chung says, "I wish we had recursive perms".

well oddly enough i sent her a copy without the texture in it and she went into edit while wearing it and now it allows her to modify the existing textures on it , we've bug reported it all the same
*just a note, she also has Grnanted Modify Rights but still anyone should have been able to modify if Modify is set on everything in the items

I have lost copy/transfer rights on a few prims I created for no apparent reason and had to remake the prim.

Does this sound like it could have been what happened?

I had that happen to some clothing attachments, after I tried to drag a script in while I was wearing them. Of course that didn't work because you can't change an attached object's inventory (you can edit things like scripts and notecards in the inventory, but you can't add or remove things). But it seems that just making the attempt changed that copy of the object so it was no-mod. Luckily it was a copy, but I was all ready to jump all over the vendor for making it no-mod before I tried again with a fresh copy and figured out what must have happened.
Does this sound like it could explain your experience?

no mod textures sounds like the trouble to me. If it worked WITHOUT the textures....and not with.

well i came up with a comprimise because i like my customers to have alot of room to run with when using something I've made. so to elliminate the whole texture perm ordeal of confusing the dispense in which the AV comes in, I simply put the textre as mod/copy in a box with mod copy then that box into the dispenser to allieviate any perms going weird and it worked , two associates tested it out and they were able to modify and copy and only transfer to thier inventory. I had heard rumor that placing a permissions troubled item in a seperate box of its own sometimes diminishes the chance of perms overriding your wishes.
