I was wondering, if somone had a Landscaping business, and wanted to place trees and grasses and such, how would they go about it? Would it work to deed the land to a group, then make the Landscaper a group owner while they do their stuff? Or would the objects disappear once they left the group? Also, if it would work fine, would trees and grasses disappear if the land was set to others can't build?

Okiphia, are you talking about islands or mainland sims? The answers are very different.

The land would have to be deeded to a Group, but the landscaper does NOT in any way need to be in the "Owner" role". Make a "Landscaper" role in the group, assign them to that role, and give them the role permissions to place Linden Plants, and to rez prims (for prim plants).

When I do builds for people, like whole sims, what I do is set the objects for sale, selling the original for $0, and let the client run around and buy everything up. If you group intelligently, this can go pretty quick. If intellectual property is involved, I simply make the items no trans.

You can set items to group, but selling them to buyer/client gives them more flexibility downstream.

One of the hard parts about landscaping for profit in SL is that you are pretty much restricted to working with Linden trees/plants and freebies. Most resident made trees are sold either with copy perms or trans perms. This means that anything you can copy cannot be transferred to a new owner once you finish your job. The items with transfer perms will get expensive on a large scale project since they cannot be copied and you will need a LOT of them. For small parcels this isn't such a big deal, but if you are landscaping an entire sim buying enough transfer enabled product will get fairly expensive - make sure you and your client decide on a budget beforehand.
