no i would have put it in the tec section but no problem here
yes you can run SL as long as you have bandwidth, here with roomates and buddys over we get upto 6 computers running nicely with 3mb dsl ... (probally more) running mutiple copys on the same machine is more complicated, you have to add command line options to your shourtcuts / links / whatever ie c:\whatever\SL\SL.exe -mutiple you can see all of the options here, http://lslwiki.com/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=newview keep in mind tho, if your running a single core or pure 32 bit machine (pre 2005) whatever speed your used to, cut it in half if your sporting a new dual core whatever or a 64 bit badass you need to hit the tech forums to find out how to set up SL ... basicly SL is a 32 bit program so if you have 64 bits of cpu power it only uses half... using the other half for the secondary client even then it may not be 100% normal speed, depending on ram configuration and video power ... but it should run decently |

It all comes down to bandwidth mostly when running multiple secondlife clients.
I ran 3 secondlife clients at hi-quality without a problem graphics wise on an 32 bit dual core. I just suffered a bit due to bandwidth. I tried running 5 secondlife clients at low graphics and it was pretty awesome being able to control that many clients as I could be at multiple locations at the same time. |

2 Clients on AMD64x2 no problem here
10-06-2006 18:18
I run two SL clients logged in with different avatars without any problem on my AMD64x2 (dual core system) with 2 gig of ram. I didn't need to set the CPU affinity at all to get this to work...but it seems that I need to have the clients running on separate monitors or else it crashes the clients. I have a dual monitor setup so it's ok here.
Surprisingly, there's no noticeable slowdown in SL at all when both clients are running. I can still surf, play mp3's etc no probs. I used the suggested shortcut with parameters method available in the SL Online Help - FAQ to set this all up. Hope that helps ![]() Riefa |

I accidently open 3 SL when I select desktop icon and hold down enter (was doing that in anger). It work best while your computer is laggy tho.

Easy on Mac too. use fast user switching, and run as many as your machine can handle.

Hi.
Has anyone worked out how to run 2 clients on seperate 32bit halves of a 64bit core? I can't seem to find anything on it using search. if your sporting a new dual core whatever or a 64 bit badass you need to hit the tech forums to find out how to set up SL ... basicly SL is a 32 bit program so if you have 64 bits of cpu power it only uses half... using the other half for the secondary client even then it may not be 100% normal speed, depending on ram configuration and video power ... but it should run decently |

Thanks for that, but i think CPU affinity refers to dual core cpus. I was wondering if you can use the 2 halves of a single core 64bit cpu, 32bits for each client?
