Hello, I've had all of the child prims of an object vanish from a no mod, no copy object that I gave to a friend. Gave him another one and those child prims vanished too. All that is left is the parent prim...I've never seen or heard of that happening before.
Not all of the child prims have scripts in them, neither does the parent prim. Is it a setting on the land?
Any feedback, any similar experiences with anyone?
Thanks!

A couple possibilties I can think of for the results you are seeing (provided the object is rezzed when the vanishing act occurs):
1) The Sim prim limit has been reached, and those child prims happen to be the ones that take the hit.
2) You have accidently set the child prim objects with Temp on Rez (if so, the prims will last about 90 seconds or so)
It wouldn't be a land object return issue, since the parent prim didn't take the hit.
If neither of the above are the issue, it may be a bug, or an asset server hiccup of some kind.

Prims can just "vanish'. Last night I was re-texturing the end walls and gables on 4 buildings, which I had built that day. Each identical building consisted of a linked set of 28 prims, and the root prim was the one for the foundation. After the prims retextured, something sort of 'blinked', and the end walls and gables on *just one* of the four buildings vanished. They didn't become invisible, or move aside. They ceased to exist. Prim count on that building dropped to 24. I even tried re-logging and clearing cache. Those four prims no longer existed. I ended up deleting the building and installing a fresh copy, since the one next to it was identical anyway. But it was odd. And I am estate manager for the sim, so I know there was no prim limit / autoreturn / or other explanation for why some, but not all, of the prims would get deleted. I had hundreds of prims still free on the parcel, and no one was there but me in the sim. Note that sometimes prims decide they will become invisible while you're editing them, or they will just refuse to rez properly. But clearing cache and re-logging usually solves that glitch.

Thank you for your replies. I have made an experiment with the following results; I set out the object on my land, it's still there intact. I gave the object to another friend, she set it out on her land, it's still there intact. Both our objects have been intact for a couple of days now. The object being on the land that the problem was first noted, child prims vanish. Strange bug, still working at it. Is there a "copy-delete bot" of some kind out there now? Wouldn't be surprised
