A friend asked for some help modifying a prefab home he bought and put his group land; I happily agreed, and asked him to give me permissions to edit his objects from the Friends list, and further asked him to add me to the group so I could rez new prims for the additons he wanted. I verified that the prefab is full permissions, as well. It's put together in various linked sections, and is overall a very nice build (my compliments to the builder!) Now, while I can rez new objects on the land as expected, I can't seem to move or edit any part of this house, though I've double-checked to be sure the owner can... he can move and edit it completely. So... what am I missing...? I'm stumped, but then again, this is the first time I've ever worked around a house someone else built that someone else bought! Help! Any insight appreciated. Thank you!

Mostly likely, the pieces are locked. Have him check each link set by going into the Edit window >> Objects tab and make sure the box for Locked isn't checked.

It's also possible that you have "Select only my objects" selected in the Tools menu. Make sure that is NOT checked. Had that happen to me once, when editing a home for a client. I have mod rights, the item's permissions allowed modifying. It looked like I was able to start editing the item, but It wouldn't work.
