What program and importing creations?

Hi guys i am wondering what program is it that is used to create items for the SL, I have blender, but I dont know if that works.

How do you import your creations into the game?

No external program is necessary. Everything you see in SL was built directly inworld using the included building tools.

That having been said, some people have been experimenting for a while with creating offline builders. There is one for Blender, which you can find by searching this forum for "Offline Builder" by Jeffrey Gomez. However, since you say you don't know how to use Blender, I wouldn't recommend it. It'll take you far longer to learn Blender than just to learn SL. Blender's a pretty complicated program; SL is much simpler by comparison.

What you will need third party programs for is texturing and animating. For texturing, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, and GIMP are the most popular choices. For animating, you can use Poser, DAZ Studio, Maya, or any of the resident-created programs you'll find on the animations forum.

thank you. I dont actually know to do SL either, i actually downlaoded blender on the recommendation of someone here within the forum. DOes that mean I will be able to customise my own items, including houses and clothing?

You can make whatever you want. Click the blue Build button at the bottom of the screen, and take it from there. I'd suggest you pay a visit to the Ivory Tower of Primitives for a good overview of the tools. You can also take an inworld class if you so desire.
