Ok, Ive tried to figure this out and have thrown out so many prims its not funny. does anyone know of a way (is it even possible?) to twist something in the OPPOSITE direction?
ie: most prims want to twist clockwise, I want to twist it counterclockwise.
yes, I know it goes that way a little bit, but I want to make ringlets or springs, with multiple rotations, which it doesnt seem to want to do. am I missing something?

Draephon, perhaps make a torus and give it multiple revolutions?
