Teleporter or Elevator?

Hello,

Im planning to build an office and i would like to connect it with my skybox, but not with a simple teleporter, i was planning to put a door (with restricted access) and when the door opens will appear some kind of halo to teleport, or maybe some way that when i cross the door, the Teleporter start to work (no need to right click). I dont know if any of those options are possible.

My other option is put an elevator, but i dont know if i need to do a hole in both buildings.

Would be nice if any of this options works for skyboxes at different heights witj restricted access or a list of allowed users.

Do you know where can i get the scripts or objects to do this?

Thanks

I preffer teleporters, less scripting and less or smaller objects needed. There are lot of teleporters around, Hippo offers a free one, just search for 'free teleporter'

Thanks Kahiro. As i said, i want some particular teleporter, that works like a "portal" or some like that, and with the option to restrict access and transport to different places.

Where can i find that?

The free Mark IV teleporter from Cubey Terra can be group-access restricted, so you have to be wearing a group tag that matches the group the teleporter is set to. It has a range of 768 Meters, and is available at Cubey's aerodrome. Do a search for Cubey Terra.

The Omega Concern makes a faster teleporter, also with the 768 M range. You have to pay for it, but it works well. It can also be access-restricted, and can have multiple access lists.

As for elevators, a "sit elevator" makes you intangible while you ride, so the buildings don't actually need holes in them for you to pass through. Sit elevators usually only transport one person at a time. A physical elevator, the kind where you and possibly several other people remain standing, usually does require an access hole to pass through.

Any elevator or teleporter will require you to click on something. The Lindens don't like the idea of "walk through this space, and you get teleported, without consent.".

As stated, you cannot move an avatar without that avatar doing a "sit" operation.
The sit operation can be made the default operation, so simply clicking on something will move you.

It would for instance be possible to make the TP look as a consequence of opening the door.

Restriction of who will be able to TP is completely independent of this. Most scenario's are possible, I have one which is only open when I am near by, or one which closes if I use it, or what ever.

There are two fundamental TP methods: SitTarget and WarpPos. For skyboxes you will most likely need WarpPos. It's main disadvantage is that the object you "sit on" moves. You must then either rez a new, or make it return. In case of return, it typically take a second or three before the next avatar can go.

I have a script laying around you can have - send me an in world message if you want it.

Note that the portal you cited requires the user to wear an attachment to use it, or else they must click the portal.

It sounds like that portal works in a somewhat limited fashion, and that what it essentially does is to move you very fast in a pre-determined direction.

Ah i see...

Well the propposal of Boreal its perfect for me. Create a door, click on it to open it and at the same time activate the teleporter.

In that case will be needed run both scripts in the same door, and configure it to restrict the access (i can find that kind of doors in SLX).

It's sad that there's no option to create the illusion that you are crossing a door when you are teleporting.

There is an attachment and some warnings about Havok 4, so it's apparently relying on a nice big impulse in the attachment to move the avatar around (if you're moving fast enough, the sim will let you fly right through solids if you're lucky). The second mode with clicks would probably rely on a more "traditional" sit-on-a-orim arrangement.
