How do you make a twisty prim or such (i'm pretty sure it was made using a cylinder prim). I was thinking of making a staircase using this similar method, but being new i can't quite figure it out. hehe.

The twisty i'm talking about, is as witnessed in the post on this bed.

The shape in the picture is a torus with revolutions set to 3 or so. To make a spiral ramp, either revolve a tube to 2 or 3 and then advanced cut it to begin 0.13, end 0.15, or twist a cylinder all the way in both directions, and then cut it severely to something like begin 0.00, end 0.02. Be careful though with these kinds of ramps. Most people have a very hard time navigating them without falling off. You can make up for this with railigs, but it's still pretty inefficient.

Anyway, the best way to learn how to make these kinds of shapes is simply to practice. A good exercise is to make one of each primitive all in a row, and then play with all the options to see what they do. Twist them, revolve them, cut them, advanced cut them, hollow them, etc. You'll discover the method behind the madness pretty quickly end then you'll be able to look at anything and say, "I could make that".
