I am trying to make a Tentacle Demon Avatar but I am confused on how to make the tentacles flexi, and if there is some way i can set the flexible path so it makes the tentacle to appear to have individual movement from the other parts. I am going to be linking several tentacles together but not sure if there is an animation that i should put into each piece like a flicker n where to get it.

Not sure if this is the right place to post, i will in other subjects, all help greatly appriciated.

To make a prim flexi, you check the Flexible Path box in the Features tab. Then the settings that are usually grayed out will appear and you can experiment with them. You will need to have just ONE prim selected by checking the Edit Linked Parts box.

If you want the prims to move individually and in a realistic manner, you will need to put scripts in them.

If you just want the tentacles to wave around randomly, you don't need scripts. Just make them flexible enough and they'll move with any motion of the avatar. You can use different degrees of stiffness to ensure that they don't all wave in synch.

If you want specific tentacles to move in specific ways you will need a script in each one. You can use a llMessageLinked command to direct the motion of each tentacle from a root prim. Post to the scripting tips forum for help.

You probably already know that flexi prims are only flexi at one end, so you have to link all the tentacles at the non-flexi end. You can't link anything to the flexi end (actually, you can, but it will look terrible because you're linking to the bounding box, not the tip).

you might like to try a tail wag script that furries use, you could put it in a sphere in the middle of your av and attach the flexi tenticles to it, that way they'll move every now and then even when the av is standing still. if you'd like a copy im me in world and i'll send you a freebie one i have

So your final Nimbus Score is 8.15, a quite remarkable achievement for a biped. Congratulations Crunch, you should be very proud. :-)

I have spent several hours just in attaching the tentacles together and made them flexi, tried to see how it would look, they look great, have some more work to do with positioning them correctly on the body, however am still going to work further on animating them, if i have to unlink them to get the effect it will be worth it. I am taking alot of pride in my work and am happy so far with the result and the individuality I am making for myself in sl :)

Thanks for your ideas n kind words
