I can't figure out how to make a circle that is 20 meters in diameter. I'm sure some of you will laugh, but I only do basic building.

There are two basic methods. Cadroe's tool uses lots of flat prims to approximate large circles, domes and spheres. It works fairly well, buit it's a real prim hog. Like it takes 24 or more prims to make anything approximating a 20 M diameter circular wall. And texturing it seamlessly is almost impossible.

If you search these forums, Chosen Few described a great method for using sections of flattened and cut cylinders to make a large circle. One can use six to eight of these to make a very reasonable 20M diameter circular wall.

Another option, which may or may not cause problems in your sim, is to use the 20Mx20Mx.5M box, only change the prim type to sphere.

I'm not suggesting you do this, just that it *is* an option. Mega prims can cause problems in sims and can also be randomly deleted by Linden staff if they are causing problems.

Maybe I'm just a bad searcher, but I can't find the post by Chosen Few that you refer to, Ceera. Was anyone able to track it down? This is something I need to know how to do for a project, and was just getting ready to post about!

Thanks for any help,
Princess Ivory

I think the post you're looking for is this one: /8/ea/55336/1.html#post586734

Sorry the pictures are missing. There was a time when LL saw fit to turn off attachments on the forums for a while, and the result was all previously uploaded images were deleted. Also, it's a slightly hard to read since they've now turned off bbCode, but you should be able to follow it.

The method described in the post works very well, but it's a bit labor intensive. Since the time it was written, I've come up with some better methodology, but I haven't written it down. If I find a little time, I'll try to make a new revised guide. I'm super busy these days though, so I probably won't get to it any time soon.
