Sorry bout this, but I've had trouble posting in this forumn, so if this works, ill add details in a second post. [See "Tall Tales (Cont'd)]
Basically, the project is this. A history of SL, of its people, places, and events. Emcompassed in a "book" (notecard form) called "Tall Tales". For any of you who read the "Cat Who..." series by Lillian Jackson Braun, the main character, a writer, sort of collects his own short stories, and tales about Moose County, and it's called "Short and Tall Tales of Moose County". Consider taht the guide for this, hopefully as funny, ingame work. To my knowledge, LJB has not published "Short and Tall Tales" as an addendum to her books yet. Email me at [EMAIL=asher385@yahoo.com]asher385@yahoo.com[/EMAIL] with questions, comments, or flames, any would be nice. -Asher LeFay.

PS: Look out for an abandoned Knight-of-a-roundtable Expedition camp. It was established for the purposes of scouring Second Life land (unnamed at the time) for the Holy Grail. Rumors state they found it, but something occured at the camp, a fight, and thats when any mention of the grail dissapears. I will attempt to post more on this as time goes by. Oh, and please dont e-mail character ideas to me yet, the idea needs more outline. But if you want to say something about the graile and Camp Alpha, as i am unformally calling this hidden camp, then defenitly feel free to e-mail me. -Asher

Tall Tales (Cont'd)

Ok, so now Ive got the basics put up (finally, I thought I was going to go nuts after putting it up twice, and finding out I was "logged off" twice...). So here's what I'd like people to do if you are interested.
A) Think about what a good history for locations would be. Brain storm it, pass it around, do whatever. But save it, after awhile, I'm hoping to hold an online chat, hopefully with Linden people present, which will be focused on that very premise. (I mean, even I am not so egotisitical and meglomanical to establish the history of SL by myself, lol).
B) Think of you own character's history. Or his/her store's. Why did the come to SL? Where did they come from? How did they get to SL? These are basic questions you might want to ask yourself. Remember, while some common sense decency rules apply, I will try to look at every story as a new case. For example, I will NOT accept stories about a character BEING a racial supremicist (of any ethnicity), I will NOT write about somebody who, in the writing, condones the wholesale slaughter of another group of people. On the otherhadn I WILL publish somebody who was maybe in an influential family who did these things. Myabe your character has been raised from birth, being taught that it [hate], but some event triggers something in them that they can see how bad, how wrong it is. But since they have been raised since birth with these "values" (dubiously titled), they are very conflicted between what they are supposed to believ in, and the new found compassion. So they flee. That idea will not just be "published" (again " " because it's not really publishing, it's on notecards anyway) but well make a great idea.
-So just remember, many times, bad things can spawn good. A vicious criminal may spawn reform, a bad execution may bring a look at others who were wrongly convicted, and bring forth new techniques that actually get the bad folk, and convict them for what they did...Long story short, if you've got questions as to whether your story is appropriate, send it in anyway, If it isn't, but you didnt intend for it no to be, I'll work with you on it. If it is appropriate, then I'll work with you on the story to flesh it out, and it'll get "published".
-Oh ya, last thing, for any submissions (when I start taking them), I will always send new drafts to the people whose characters are the subjects. If it happens to be a sort of joint history (maybe you came to SL with a friend or have made mention of someone else ingame) then I'll send it to anyone mentioned. If you dont want the whole story to go out to others, say so, and if you mention anybody else, just in passing, I will send them what I think determines the context of the mentioning of person B, to person B. A little backward i know, but if you've got questions, e-mail me. -Asher LeFay:

PS: I will NEVER go shouting "so and so believes in this, or [said] person said that". There are times when, by law and my own sense of morality, I must, but i will defenitly tell the writer before hand.

I just wanna say that I love this idea! I'm still working out the details of my story for you (suggestions from all will be most appreciated!).

Another story idea for ya -- go pull up "the name game" thread in the general forum and use those posts (obviously after getting permission from the various posters =)

#!
