I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem..or is it just me. I made a house...and fine tuned it. When I log off SL..and come back on..it reverts back to the way it was. At first I thought okay..maybe it was dark..I could'nt see good enough. So refixed afew things again..only to relog back on..to find they're right back where I started from. Any hekp would be appreciated. Thank you...*S

Lag is a drag....
I have found if you wait a bit before leaving the sim (either by traveling or logging), then this happens a lot less...
The slang term I have heard used for this phenomenon is "Prim Drift" and it will be a part of your life unless you take the entire house into your inventory and plop it out each time you log in. My findings, though, are that, if you do one of the two following things, the Drift is much mitigated....
1) Simplest... after making a change, wait. Allow the server to catch up to your client. This method is the least sure and only works for cases of actual net lag. If the server has a chance to catch up to the client, and gets updated with the changes you have implemented, your prim drift will be less... I have found that this kind of problem occurs in areas with extremely high traffic, where the framerates are low and the bandwidth usage is high... A question for the Lindens would be... what happens when the Client and Server are out of synch?
2) More complex, but surer... This works for both lag situations AND for corrupt/obstinate prims. a) Tweak the prim into place. b) Take a slide copy of the obstinate prim (Shift drag). c) Delete the old one. d)Reselect the new one and hit Ctrl-Z... it should go right back to where it was. This method is also useful for correcting prims where the texture keep shifting around on its offsets.
As far as the ongoing issue of prim-drift is concerned, it seems to happen more on some sims than on others... if it is REALLY an issue, you may need to sell your land and find a different sim to build in. I am fortuate; my shop property in Cass does not have this issue and my home in Sabulella has an occasional problem with texture shifting, but no real issues with prim-drift.

When you shift drag copy, the new one is actually the one left behind in place rather than the dragged one. You can tell this if there are scripts in the prim - when shift drag copied a new script starts running from default state, and it's the one left behind.

Hmmm...
That's interesting, because I originally thought that was the case (since the dragged one is solid all the way through the process and the one in the original position is ghostly for a few seconds); however, when I tried deleting the dragged one, the one that was left in its place exhibited the old behavior. When I did it the way I described, the problem went away.
I wonder if it has something to do with using the coordinates window instead of the arrows to move things... Ctrl-z works by resetting the coords "by the numbers" I understand.
