Greetings fellow citizens,

I am a new builder in SL - but my interest and desire to experiment and design various things is very high. My question however, is how technical the building can get. I draw layouts, blueprints, and CAD desgins when I feel encouraged - and I was wondering if any of that could be transferrable into SL building.

Can you specify lengths, heights, and widths of prims by inputting values, instead of using the arrows to stretch, rotate, etc?

If this is possible - I think it would make my building (and learning) a little less difficult for me.

Thanks for your support,

yup

you've not spent enough time playing yet have you? :) expand the build dialogue with the "more" button on the bottom right, and look at all the tabs.

go play with the toys, do the tutorials, and visit the ivory tower of prims, that'll give you a good insight to the idiosyncraties of the build tools in SL

There is a product out there in development. Which do some conversions of AutoCad and then remake the same build in SL. It was still in progress that last time I checked. But you may be interested in this.

Thanks for the link.

I will definitely keep an eye out for those developments. And I've made very basic objects so far - basic homes, bowling alley, tables, pools, etc.

I didn't realize the more tab had those numerical values.
