Is there a maximum number of prims that can be linked? I have a build that is 166 prims. Even though I select all of them, then link, and they are all highlighted, some of them don't get linked. It says 1 object, 166 prims, but after I take it to inventory and rezz it back up, lots of prims are missing.
TIA!

Your problem most likely is related to linking distances. Builds containing smaller prims are particularly subject to this problem. For example, try linking three 0.5 M spheres that are 5 M apart from each other. The max distance between them is only 10 M, but they won't link, because there is also a limit based on the size of the prims... Andrew Linden Says:From: someone The simple approximate answer is: The maximum distance between the center of masses of the two primitives is the smaller of the two distances below:
(1) 32 meters
(2) three times the largest dimension of the largest primitive (plus 1 meter)
What this means is :
(A) very small objects can be a max of about 1 meter apart
(B) very large objects can be a max of 32 meters apart
(C) a 10x10x10 meter cube can be about 31 meters from a 0.01x0.01x0.01 cube Based on that, two objects 0.5M in dimension won't reliably link to each other if they are more than 2.5 Meters apart.

Thank you both! I didn't realise that distance would be an issue. You nail the proverbial nail: this was a birthday table/display and had lots of small prims. The whole thing was 10 meters long. So, I had some tiny prims that were almost 10 meters apart. I'll know for his next birthday !

I find linking to be something of a voodoo art. Sometimes you can get things to link successfully by selecting and linking individual prims into separate sub-assemblies, then linking the sub-assemblies together, where trying to select and link the whole thing in one go would fail.
