Question for 2K Suzie about Sculpty Rezzer

I have tried Sculpty rezzer for the first time and when my sculpty objects get all put together, they are all stretched funny. For example I made a dress out of sculpted petals, and when it all rezzed the dress was short and wide in another direction.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
I'm not using the newest release candidate, does that have anything to do with it?

Or am I stuck with any sculpty group needing to fit the dimensions of a square?

VERY cool tool by the way, this thing is a Godsend! Even if there is no way to un-squish it it is still awesome and such a time saver.

Oh and, if someone else has some advice for me please jump in:) I addressed the question to 2K because that's who supplied the rezzer scripts for us but if anyone else has experience with this I would love to hear about it:)

when you make a sculpty it will naturally take on the dimensions of the prim you use.
you you will have to use proportionate dimensions to the style of your sculpty before inserting it into the prim.
I know because i have made countless prims that need precalculation in the sculpty making phase. so when i change the dimensions they take the proper form afterwards rather tricky process but if you have a mental image of the prim and its dimensions its rather simple.

Violane: Usually when Sculpty Rezzer messes up when re-creating your object it is because your filenames are too long. Sculpty Rezzer uses the sculptmap filename to store information about the sculpty's size and proportions. If your initial object filename is too long there is not enough room to fit all the numbers and other data that the Rezzer needs.

Try exporting your objects(s) again with a very short name before converting. You might also want to check out my page about Sculpty Maker/Rezzer. I'm hosting the programs for 2k and also collecting/creating help files and tips.

Almia: You advice is definitely true for sculpties in general. The Sculpty Rezzer scripts that Violane mentions were created to automate this process. They work with zBrush and a converter called Sculpty Maker to help you recreate your objects in-world just as they were in zBrush.

Thanks guys!!!
Well one more question though, because I did make my filename super short, only about 4 or five letters long, but it's all the numbers that the sculpty maker exporter puts into the names when I convert my Zbrush object. So, my filename for the .obj file was Petal, but about a gazillion zeroes and other numbers were added onto all the resulting bitmap files that got converted and I wasn't sure if I should change any of them. There were a few that were missing the #1 at the end and I already fixed that, but can I delete some of the zeroes? Would that help?

Petal should be a sufficiently short name. I wouldn't change any of the filenames after converting, I think all the info is necessary.

When you converted the object (objects?) did you leave the Scale and Center options selected?

Is this one single object that you are converting or several objects that are to be converted and re-assembled?

Vlad, these are multiple objects (sulpties) that need to assemble into place on an AV.

Oh, and I had left those Scale and Center objects de-selected - was I supposed to have them selected? I could have sworn the instructions said to uncheck them..

So, you are saying then, that for the whole thing to be deformed is not normal? I hope that's the case and I'm just doing something wrong so I could fix it!
I can try and shorten the name even more if it might help, it's just funny how many numbers get put into that name!

Yes, I would leave the Scale and Center options checked. You usually only want to uncheck those when working with animated sculpties.

When Sculpty Maker and the Rezzer are working correctly your object should come out with the same proportions as your models in zBrush, arranged in the exact same places relative to each other.

Posting here because 2k doesn't have PM's turned on.

And maybe someone can answer it without 2k's input. :)

Where do I find this Sculpty Rezzer of which you speak? o.O.O.o

Also, I can't get in game any time soon, so hoping there's a pointer somewhere from someone coming.

Looked at all threads started by 2k in hopes of finding one showing where it is, but no luck.
(wow, and I thought I got a lot of threads locked! **Teasing!!**)

Also looked in the Sculpty tools sticky and didn't see it in there.

Thanks tons to whoever ends up helping with this quest!

A

Does anyone know whether Sculpty Rezzer works on Beta Grid? I followed all the steps and tried out on the beta grid but kept getting the this error messge:

"Unable to create requested object. Object is missing from database."

Could anyone help? Thanks!

UPDATE: It's working perfectly now. I assembled the Rezzer incorrectly that caused the error. My god, what an amazing product. I was speechless watching my six-part object positioned together precisely as I intended it to be. Thank you 2k Suisei, you're a genius. And thank you Vlad for your wonderful tutorials!

cool, glad you got it working. It is kinda fun watching it assemble the pieces - and it sure saves a lot of hassle.
