ok, here's the thing:

I know how to create an object in Blender and I've dl'd the trial of AC3D to try out the SL plugin. I have an object I've created that I want to upload, but am having problems creating a proper UV map. The object in question is based off of a box primitive, here is a screenshot from AC3D:

here is the UV map I exported:

most of the tutorials I saw recomended using a cylinder to start with...maybe that is the problem?

no you don't have to use a cylander

I don't know about the software you are using but you do not have to start with a cylander, at least not in blend. You might check out this tutorial from the sculptie sticky which shows how to start with a sphere...

http://iramblesorry.blogspot.com/

It took me several days to figure out enough about Blender to get this to work, but I like Lex's aproach of starting with a sphere and then using the control points to alter its shape. You don't have to do the unwrap in the same way as with the cylander approach and it seems much easier to get a regular grid in the UV window.

For the texture settings-Amanda's link is a bit clearer:

But you need to do exactly the sequence or it will not work. I actually wrote out an abbreviated outline to remind me what to do after I kept on missing little steps like "set the textures to blend' or remembering the mapping.

I have posted my first results at:

Two sculpties done using Rokuro (Very easy and slick) and my first Blender using Lex's approach.

Good luck!

Did you go through and remap your UV after you created the item?
