I have looked and I must be missing the answer in my beginner's fog:
Is there a way to make a cube 100% transparent? I can't get the slider past 90%.
I may be trying to learn too much too fast :)

Just trying to make something all newbies probably do, a clear box to drop a hover text script into wheeeee

yeah man, you gotta use a script to do it though.

check out the llSetAlpha command, a simple script would be:

create a new script in the object inventory, then open it up and replace its text with this:

default
{
state_entry()
{
llSetAlpha(0.0, ALL_SIDES); // set entire prim 100% invisible.
}
}

You don't need to use a script. Just texture with an 100% alpha transparent texture. I dropped the texture you need on your profile in game.

Sorry to bring this subject up again, but I thought it would be better than starting a new thread as it is related.

I'm also having trouble with transparent, although I am happy with 90%. My problem is that I made the poseballs transparent for my furniture, but when I sit on them then stand up again they return to 0% (fully opaque). Doesn't matter how many times I reset to 90% transparent, they always return to 0% after I sit then stand. I've already edited the script to get rid of the hover text, but I don't want the balls permanently on display, hence my wish to make them transparent. Incidentally, this is furniture that I'm building and I own the pose balls which are full mod (bought at Bits and Bobs).

Any ideas anyone?

Vic C: It's the script.

Just performing a forum search for "poseball transparency" brings up the answer here.

/8/75/189244/1.html

"It sounds almost certain that the script in the pose ball is controlling the pose ball's visibility.

Try saying "/hide" or "/1hide" near the pose ball. Most pose ball scripts have a chat command to toggle visibility of the ball when not in use. ("/show" or "/1show" makes them visible)."

yes bits and bobs poseballs have the /1 show and /1 hide command so you can "hide" the poseballs when you want to and have them visible when you want that.

Thanks Al..looks like that is the problem. Think I'll try the solution offered in the last post on that thread...change the texture to a full alpha one.

All I need now is a full alpha texture...

You can get a 100% alpha texture for free here if you have a SLX account

Thanks for all your help guys...I sorted it by modifying the SetAlpha setting in the script.

Cheers all :-))
