Is it possible to parent an object to the flexing end of a flex prim, so that it follows the tip? I was hoping to make a rounded tip for a sort of tail shape, since a cylinder makes a lousy tail.

no it isn't the flexi part of a prim is all client side, so the server sees the prim as if it wasn't flexi. What you can do is make a prim that is the same length and turn that flexi. Prims of the same length follow the same flex path as eachother.
