Hiya All,

I finally created a decent looking sculpted stairs.... BUT...I can't walk on them..

I've created an invisible ramp to put over them...linked the two pieces together and hey presto! I can walk the stairs....

I take them back into my inventory....

I rezz them again but this time I can't seem to walk up them.

I tried this several times, creating the stairs & invisible prim from scratch, everythings fine...but when I rezz them from my inventory...same problems...

Would anyone have any clue as to why this is happening?

Thanks in advance..

Use two parts, NOT linked. The stairs (phantom) and the ramp, which can be linked to the rest of the build. You can't link a phantom part to non-phantom parts.

There is a way to fiddle with the bounding box in Blender so the sculpty effectively has its own invisible ramp enclosing it. But you have to be quite skillful with external tools like Blender to make it work.

Making the sculpty stairs phantom lets you walk through the bounding box (which is a box the size of the sculpty) but over ramp which shouldn't be phantom so you can't link them or all is phantom or all is solid.

You don't, Acie, actually. It's just a single sculpted object (not including the regular prim ramp)

Sculptypaint has a lovely stair generator, have a look at that if you wish to make stairs:
