I have read that you can intersect apha textures and use the 'openGLbug' to make them look 3D. I also read that this object can be only one prim.
But how do you rez an object with only 2 sides to put the texture on? How only one prim?
How is this tree type object made? Anyone?

You will need at least 2 or 3 prims in a star formation to make trees or shrubs.

Linden trees are special. They only use 1 prim each. That is why Lindens are Gods.

But I've seen it done everywhere.

Not just linden trees, but alse fur on clothes for example. There must be a way of scripting an object with only 2-faces.

Ya, I too have this problem. I can't seem to make my texture the same on both sides of a prim. Is it that I'm not making the prim flat enough or what? I wish someone would tell me the secret. I want to be able to make stuff that doesn't look silly and more 3D. IM me ingame if you feel it is enough of a secret that the whole world should not know. LOL thanx :)

So? you're wanting to make something have the same texture on both sides of a prim? I'm confused here.

If you want the sides to line up (mirror each other isntead of just the same on both sides), you can use the flip selections to reverse the image on that face using Select Texture.

Ya I have been trying to do that as well, but having troubles. Do I put texture on only one side of prim and clear on one side and put 2 of these back to back? If so I'm having troubles texturing one side of prim at a time. I did this once but can't seem to do it again :(

What I realy need to know is how to edit texture on only one face of the prim. I think I have figured out how not to have it show on the other side all distorted. I thouhgt it was just need to hold down shift key when selecting the prim, but it doesn't seem to be working for me now.

Ender--
There is a checkbox in the Edit window, that must be checked which will allow you to select the texture of an individual prim face. With this check box checked, use a left-click to select it. Holding down the Shift key, will allow you to retain your current selection and select an addtional face.

For instance:

If you wanted to edit a single prim face:
1) Check the appropriate box to let you select a single prim face
2) Left-click the prim face you want to edit
3) Now changes you make to the texture will only be made to that face of the prim

If you wanted to edit two faces at once:
1) Check the appropriate box to let you select a single prim face
2) Left-click one of the prim faces you want to edit
3) While holding down the Shift key, left-click the second prim face
4) Now changes you make to the texture will only be made to those two faces

I'm not online, but it should be just below the Position, Rotate, etc radio buttons.

EDIT: The above is incorrect. It's a Radio button, not a checkbox.
Use the Select Texture radio button. That will let you select the individual texture face.

See the one that says "Select Texture"? That's the one that lets you select one texture at a time. :)

Really, it's an inappropriate name though, so a lot of people don't realize what it's for at first. It should be called "Select Face", not "Select Texture", and then I'm sure more people would get it.

Actually, I'd love to see them rearrange that whole section of the editor window to make it more understandable. They should do away with "Edit Linked Parts" and "Select Texture, and replace them with a 3-way toggle for "Select Whole Objects", "Select Individual Prims", and "Select Individual Faces". That way, everything would be nice and clear and uniform, much easier to understand. It would also put it more in line with how Maya and other widely used 3D modeling apps are structured.
