I have just started building in Second Life and i was wondering how i can actually attach 3 things together

Pole -> String (Cylinder) -> Ball

I am basically just wanting to attach the ball, because ill apply attributes to the string but the ball doesnt follow

Is there a better way todo this?

Thanks in Advance :)

1st, What attributes are you referring to?

2nd, To attach, the term in SL is to link, subject to your answer of Q1 then I can answer Q2.

Alternatively, as you are new and interested in building, I would suggest you search "Ivory Towers" in world and vist them, there is a complete guide for all building techniques.

Hey Mikeyy...welcome to the forums.

Essentially, what you are looking to reproduce isn't going to react the way I think you're looking for it to react--which is I take it a physics-based ball on a string?

However, there is hope in sight. The new beta-patch they are working on which utilized the new Havok4 physics model, WILL reproduce more complicated linking, physics, gravity, weight and friction...nothing too complex, but certainly it might cater to what you are trying to achieve.

Do a Youtube search for Second Life Havok 4...something along those lines. The technology hasn't hit the main grid yet, but it's being tested in the beta grid (First Look Viewer).

Cheers.

Michael you're getting me excited now... I may just have to jump on the beta grid to start learning about it if that's the case... I have had so many ideas that need better physics to work...

but...

/me wonders if her desktop will be able to handle the new engine... CPU and RAM are fine... but the 3D card already has issues with the current engine. Might be time for an upgrade XD

Currently there is no way to do what you are asking. You can take a flat ribbon of flexi and just draw a ball and string..or whatever you need. That's one workaround. You can take two flexi prims and make one the string and draw a ball on the other. They will both flex together most of the time. Or maybe wait for that Havok 4 to come out. Maybe they'll have flexi spheres too.
