Is anyone else having problems with finished and linked prims resizing themselves, becoming selectively phantomised and moving? I finished a build in Rapture a couple of days ago and was duly proud of my work. Yesterday my client thought that someone had moved things inadvertently... the ground floor had been resized so that it no longer matched up, there were gaps and places where you fell through the floor. I fixed it, and within ten minutes it had reverted - in particular there was a place which initially went phantom and then the prim shrank back to leave a metre wide chasm.
I have heard of another builder suffering similar problems - he has to redo his floor each day - and some of my objects in Bear had magically resized and gone out of alignment too.
Thought I should post to see if anyone else is having similar problems. thanks Cali

This is an old bug that has become a bit more prevelant in 1.6 than it was in 1.5. It's affectionately referred to as "prim rot".
In most cases, you can fix any affected prims by twice entering size, location, and rotation numbers by hand. For example, if you've got a prim that keeps resizing on you, open up the editor and type in some random numbers for X, Y, & Z size. Be sure that these new numbers are not the correct ones, and that they are different from whatever the current ones are. Now close the editor, re-open it, and type in the correct numbers. Do the same for rotation and location numbers if those are going haywire too.
Nine times out of ten, this procedure will cause the prims to settle down. If it doesn't work, then the only solution is to delete the "rotten" prims and replace them.

Also, I know that I've had problems where I think I've moved or resized something, but another avatar viewing the same prims sees something different.
So if anything's looking visually odd, maybe get a second opinion to make sure you're both seeing the same thing.

So if anything's looking visually odd, maybe get a second opinion to make sure you're both seeing the same thing. If that happens, it's due to cache discrepency. The procedure I mentioned above will take care of it. If it's severe though, like if you see half a sim looking all screwed up, then log off, delete the contents of your cache, and log back on. If you don't know how to clear your cache, simply uninstall and re-install SL. That will do it.

Thanks for your help, Chosen. I am wondering if some of the other bugs I have seen since 1.6 are linked into this one. With the linking bug it often seems that it is a particular prim that is a problem, and no matter which way you try to link, that prim will always be a problem. I had problems with things automatically delinking, too. Also, a friend asked me to fix a piece of furniture where the anim stopped working, I happen to have the same piece of furniture, and the same prim was borked on mine - when it worked before. I found that replacing the anim and script didn't work, but if I moved the original script and anim to a new prim, they were fine - almost as though it was something to do with the actual prim which the system had taken agin. The primrot in Rapture is pretty awful - I copied a lot of the prims, of course. Look like I may have to go around replacing them. Cali

I have often found that some scripts need to be recompiled after a "point" release (e.g. X.Y or 1.6). Resetting the script does not help, but adding a space, removing a space, and "Save"ing a script will force a recompile. Of course you need have modify permissions on the script...
