When I dont need to be a horribly-introverted human avatar, i'd like to be not much more than a cursor, when im building. I dont need a disclocated arm to show me that im in buiulding mode. And i look stupid flying around in loafers.

Im pretty quick on learning, but im curious what i should learn to become an orbanism. I'd be floating of course, so how body parts are hidden out of view or removed is what im looking for info on. just URLs is cool, this would be my 1st avatar project.

thanks!

I'd do two things. First, use an animation to squish the avatar into as small a space as possible. You can rotate the head and limbs so that they are inside the torso, and set all the sliders to minimum settings. The result should be a lump of av meat about the size of a basketball. Then, simply attach a sphere, and position it to encapsulate the body fully. Presto, you're an orb.

If you want to go smaller, you can use an invisiprim to hide the avatar completely. It's not a perfect illusion, as invispirms will also hide any 32-bit surfaces behind or inside them, so you'll appear to poke holes in walls sometimes as you float by. But most of the time, it works well enough.

They have tiny little balls that make you invisible at the CIA. Not sure if this would help in the way that you want it to though.

i think the former will do it! Ive noticed invisiprims revel their hidings in foggy particle situations, but i dont need to be that small. Thanks!

Court, if you check around some of the freebie places you should be able to find 'tiny' avatars. These will include an AO with a scrunched up pose that should make you small enough to hide in a ball like Chosen suggested. Or something like this:

http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=452623

from SLexchange. "Grendel's Children" also has some tiny mechanical avatars that could be adapted for this, most of them very cheap (<L$100).

btw, cool idea. I often find my human-sized av gets in the way or distracts me with it's contortions while building. I'll probably follow your example and make myself a 'build-bot' avatar next time I log in.

I usually find a R5D5 avatar good for building, small & compact, looks good flying

My builder-bot avatar, in-da-house :)

I went with some stacked translucent cubes around an 'alientile' textured core, using a freebie tiny AO to keep me tucked inside. About an 80cm cube, but it could have been smaller & simpler.
