I've looked a hundreds of houses and would really like to try my hand at it, 'just because" it's a part of learning to build.
However, I've not been able to find any kind of tutorials on house building. Does anyone know of any?

The lessons you learn about alignment carry over into building houses. I'd suggest going texture shopping to give you ideas. The textures that grab you may give you ideas for how you want to see it on a wall. Make sure you get full perm stuff though. I have some no-mod window textures that didn't come with corresponding opaque windows for tints, and I'm a very unhappy camper that I can't use them without totally changing the outer texture. _____________________

I know I would take the classes. My Wish list: Opening Doors - Sliding and swinging scripts Windows - Prim versus textures - Tinting scripts Stairs - Straight and spiral Teleporters Lighting Changeable floor and wallpaper textures Roofs - Hip, Gable, etc. etc. etc. |

I wrote a house building tutorial for Creating Your World: The Official Guide to Advanced Content Creation for Second Life. That tutorial doesn't specifically cover all of the things in your wish list, Cheree, but much of it is covered in other chapters (such as the one on scripting, for example). If you're interested, you can find a free chapter and other info at http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0470171146.html. My local library IRL has the book, and maybe yours does, too.

Sounds great. I will probably just go buy the book. But I would still love to see some in-world classes. I like being able to ask questions and stuff. |

Cheree, the best tutorial is right in this forum. Do searches of the Building Tips forum for topics as you start building. Post questions here and get answers from a dozen or more people on different ideas to consider.
