I bought a large billboard (adlife) on my land and put up a nice picture. My next door neighbor covered my billboard with his pictures of clouds as a backdrop to his lighthouse. I though it was rude but I believe our neighbors have the right to build anything. Is this true? Is there anything I could do to get my neighbor to uncover his wall? What are to SL policies about putting up large picture walls?

The general rule is as long as something's on your land, and as long as it's not in violation of any community standards (kiddie porn, hate speech, etc.) then it's allowed. Your neighbor is well within his rights to put up those cloud pictures.

Be neighborly. Instead of asking all of us, talk to your neighbor directly. Be friendly, be polite, and be positive about it. Discuss how the two of you could work together for the benefit of yourselves, and all of your neighbors. In other words, do exactly what you would do in RL if your neighbor put something on his property that you don't like looking at.

Ulitmately though, you'll have to accept that if your neighbor does not wish to cooperate, that's his prerogative. You can't force him to take anything down (nor should you try).

Your neighbor, perhaps, did not think your billboard was something he wanted to look at. If he put his picture on his land so he did not have to look at your billboard, he is well within his rights.

Is the problem you have that other people cannot see through his cloud wall and view your billboard? If this is the case, I can't say I have much sympathy for you. I build landscape screens so people can enjoy their property without being forced to look at their neighbor's billboards.

Generally, from what I understand, large picture walls are perfectly permissible on one's own property, but it is considered polite to make the reverse side - the ones that the neighbors see from their side - transparent.

trees from the neighbors land

So anyone can put up walls and billboards, I can relate to that and some don't like big advertising or store signs next to a pretty property. Hopefully, I can work something out with the SLers by looking for a cliffside property but I love roadside properties. I would hate to keep moving.

How does having your neighbor's trees that hang over on your property. How does the SL's policy apply to tips of limbs hanging into your property and going into/inside buildings?

I have property in Quat and a lot of that whole area is cliffside and roadside, even with waterviews - there's none for sale in my area but there are a couple of lots for sale in Riiki which is nearby. Not cheap, though.

To answer your question, your neighbors trees aren't supposed to hang over on your property, and especially not into your buildings. Often, though, they don't realize that the trees are going through your buildings because they move in the breeze. Send them an IM asking them to move their trees, and if they don't respond within a few days, generally an AR (abuse report) is in order, so you can get the Lindens out to move the tree, but it often takes LL a long time to do anything about that. The best bet is to try to get the neighbor to move it.
