Usualy the update is done before 3:00 PM EST 12:00 Game time - just like they say in their post As far as a house - You can build it yourself, you can find free buildings at various places, or you can buy prebuilt ones that people sell. Now to keep your house permanent - you will need land - either own or rent, and to do that - you need a premium account. Though you can rent without a premium account - I think....never did that - im a land hog. |

Buying homes and land
07-26-2006 10:12
It is probally a good idea to rent a house on the mainland or an island first
until u get the lay of the land, talk to people about their experiences and learn what is GOOD and what is BAD for example I bought some land on the mainland and quickly learned what kind of activities on the SIM can make it lag and have a terribly slow and terrible time, I sold the land bought more, discoverd the BIG BLUE SIGN guy, lol and quickly decided to go to Anshe's Dreamland where I discovered that no BLue signs meant 1000 rules, some good some bad, at which point I found a solution that works for me. In short I learned by wasting alot of money when I should have just talked to the people in world and learned from OTHER's mistakes, LOL as for houses after loosing 3 or 4 HIGH PRICED homes and not having them replaced I decided to purchase ONLY copy homes for me and to guide my friends to do the same. COPY homes allow me to play with them, learn how to build and change them to reflect what I want, not what some builder wants. PLUS I can delete the house and not care if its lost casue I can rezz a new copy. Acts of Lindens dont bother me so much either since the VERY worst that can happen is that I have to sepnd some time rezzing another house, which is more preferable than spending more cash. Having said that perhaps you want only 1 house but want the ability to sell it to a friend or something, in that case you wont find a copy version so be very careful and make sure the person you buy from will give you another copy so u can back it up hope that helps, if u want more info feel free to IM me in game |

If you want land on the mainland, you'll need to be a Premium member, or you'll need to rent from someone who offers land there.
You can rent land on privately held islands and land areas without being a premium member. Ask around first, talk to others who rent from that sim owner, and make an informed decision about who you rent from and where you rent. Some rental properties come with homes already built on them, ready to occupy. Start with one of the free homes, or an inexpensive one. Make sure it doesn't use so many prims that you don't have any left for furnishings! On a 512 M2 minimal plot, you only get 117 prims. Personally, I wouldn't spend more than 40 of that on the house, or else you won't have any left over for a bed and chairs and other stuff to make it look nice. Make sure the dimensions of the foundation fit on your land. If you buy a strip of land that is only 16M wide, you can't plunk down a house that is 20 M wide in that direction, without your neighbors complaining and you getting into trouble. The whole thing needs to stay on your property. The prim count and cost of a home can vary widely. There are several free homes in the Library section of your inventory, or in various freebie sites like Yadni's junkyard. I make and sell a 9-prim starter cottage that will fit on any lot, and I sell it pretty cheap. I've made mansions that used over 500 prims and cost well over L$10,000. You get what you pay for... _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.
