Hello all, First off, I am sorry that this post will be so long, I am trying to be as specific as possible in explaining my problem. I am very new to making sculpts, so new in fact that I am not even sure how to word this question, but allow me to try. I have been playing around with Wings for a couple of weeks now, and although I end up with some very neat sculpts after hours of trying, I always run into the same problem when it is time to export to SL. So far every time I try, I get the “unsupported mesh size” message. Now I have a real reason to get it right though, I need a sculpt for a build I am working on. The sculpt I want is a kind of rounded cube with an indent in the middle. Picture a shoebox with no lid and slightly thicker walls and bottom. I have carefully followed the guidelines for the allowable editing commands from the Wiki and I stop to test the sculpt at different times to ensure that what I have so far can be exported to SL. I have the right box shape now, and it can be exported, but every time I try to create the hollow in the box I again get the unsupported mesh size. I have tried selecting the area I want to drop down and move it along the y axis, and this gives me the best visual result, but it won’t export! Please, I have no idea what I am doing wrong, and I can not find any tutorials to show me what I should do. Can anyone tell me how to get the desired result and be able to export? Please keep in mind that I am so new to sculpts that I still call the modes in Wings the dot mode, line mode, face mode, and whole damn thing mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated; I am running out of hair on my head to pull out. ~Dawn

I can't speak for Wings, but if you want to try a different free program, I have a series of tutorials here: http://halfpastnull.com/?cat=35I especially recommend Blender's Sculpt Mode for this: it's very, VERY handy. One of the defaults I'm currently distributing IS a rounded cube by camilla Yosuke, but it doesn't have a hollow base. Domino also provides a series of Blender scripts that have tutorials. I'll let him chime in on those if he wishes to do so.

That is the message you get when you use an unsupported mesh or alter the vertex numbering somehow. You need to use one of the templates as your starting point for the model and only use the transform tools.

I am not sure what I had been doing wrong, or what I actually did right this time, but I finally achieved the result I had hoped for. I was able to export and upload into SL after a few more tries. I think Pygora is right; I have been altering the numbering of these things in some way without realizing it. Ty Jeffrey and Almia for the heads up on the different programs, I am going to try those out and see if they are not a bit easier for me while I’m in the learning stage. Ty again all for your help on this, ~Dawn.
