I want to build prim hair and shoes, but I find that buiding them on my av gets tiresome. I'd like to have a model head and foot (like you'd find in a wig or shoe store in RL) that I could build on.
Do such things already exist in SL? If not does anyone have advice for building them?

Now THERE is an idea! Instead of camping chairs, you could have posing stands, and people get paid to pose for you while they're afk and serve a purpose at the same time as they help you design your products! Hrm. Ya know, that'd darn well work, too! If I had the inclination I'd go script that

Heheh, that's an idea. I could ask other people to pose for me. But I was looking more for inanimate "dummy" type objects. Think mannequin parts, dressmaker's dummies, etc.

Trouble with that would be if you wanted to make heels with invisiprims, you couldn't get an idea of how they'd look on an av because the whole 'foot' would remain visible.
I don't think I've ever heard of modelling dummies in SL before, but perhaps you could try and make one. I'm loving the idea of camping modellers though!

What I did was rez a sphere, shape it to the size of my head, which I do by wearing the sphere then scale/stretch it to conform the head shape. After that, I just append neck and shoulders to it. For prim feet, I'd base it on an arched foot with a size of 0. That's the standard here, though if you decided to go bigger that's cool. Providing more than one shoe size is something I'd like to see more often.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I looked at the mannequin heads on slexchange and slboutique. Unfortunately they were too expensive, had too many prims, and were just a bit creepy looking. And I didn't see any mannequins at Simply Britnee But I checked out Lash's mannequin and I LOVE it! Simple and elegant. I will definitely take your advice and build one for myself. Have a swell day everybody!
